skincare / soin

what is skincare? why is it so important? ;

Shiseido Future Solution LX ;
the solution to beautiful, timeless skin - now and forever.
Skincare only began to be a proper routine for me at the age of 18. Growing up my whole life, my mother would always mention beauty tricks, such as drinking plenty of water, eating vegetables, avoiding fatty foods etc. At the time, i would simply respond "yes mother, i know." but not really consider her advice - subconsciously aware, but ignored. Until i reached high school, my adolescent days i began to break out and next thing you know, combination skin and blemishes. Being extremely self-conscious, i would hunt for the "emergency" toner to rid the hideous acne.

Then there was Clean & Clear 1-2-3 step which had a Cleansing Foam, Toner and Moisturizer. Though i seldom use the moisturizer, i just wanted to use the Cleansing Foam and Toner to quickly remove my blemishes. Till this day i am still all for the toner, reasonably cheap around $8, you can't go wrong - especially when it does get rid of the pimples in just days. Little did i know, that using this toner (excessively), resulted in dry/flaky skin. The moisturizer in the pack did not assist the water retention in my skin, neither did it absorb into my skin - in actual fact, it remained on the surface, hence leaving a greasy feeling. I guess i had the mentality where if you are thirsty, water is the ideal drink. So applying that to skin, good skincare will be absorbed immediately as the human skin knows what product is good for it, otherwise there would be a reaction right? I was concerned more about having blemishes than dry skin, as acne was extremely visible and less flattering than just dry skin.
